1-Feb-2016: Angel City IPA by Angel City Brewery of Los Angeles. 6.1% ABV. An OK IPA from an LA Brewery. Malty and a little bitter. A bit wheaty. Not my favorite style of IPA, but they had it for sale here at the hotel after a long day driving back down to LA from Santa Rosa. #ottbeerdiary

This post is a continuation of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary.  Over the course of 2015, I drank at least one new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. This year I may deviate from the diary format in some posts, hoping to concentrate more on the locations and the breweries I am enjoying. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.

Day 397: February 1, 2016

Diary entry:

A Rough morning.

Very rough.

And we need to drive back to LA today? Ugh! And of course, yesterday was a day of huge wind storms in Southern California, with both I-5 and US-101 both closed at points throughout the day. Hopefully there’s no issues driving over the Grapevine pass on I-5 today, as I need to be in Long Beach tomorrow for an appointment for my Global Entry interview.

But first, some breakfast. One more place we picked out in our research: Taqueria Las Palmas for some Chilaquiles and a giant burrito.

Chilaquiles, one of my favorite comfort foods! Best served with a Michelada!

And then the drive to LA? Nope!

Next stop: Downtown San Francisco to San Francisco Police Headqurters to pick up a copy of the police report from Erin’s car break-in back in September that we needed for insurance purposes. Luckily that was rather painless. Much fewer issues than we expected due to the Superbowl Fanfest going on near the Embarcadero. We were in and out of the city within a couple of hours, including some stops in Sausalito and the Marin Headlands just before the Golden Gate Bridge for some photos.

Looking back into San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge from the Marin Headlands. Lucked out with great visibility on a day that was filled with pretty serious winds.

And now we’re on the road? Yup. But with a stop in Gustine for some Pea Soup Andersen’s.

And yes, then, we finish the drive over a calm Grapevine and a calm 405 around to Torrance where we finally managed to crash after a long day of driving.

Time for a beer!
