This post is a continuation of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary.  Over the course of 2015, I drank at least one new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. This year I may deviate from the diary format in some posts, hoping to concentrate more on the locations and the breweries I am enjoying. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.

Day 875: May 24, 2017

Had a beer and cheese pairing tonight in Eindhoven, so wandered down into town after work. First stopped by the Stadsbrouwerij for a recent release I’d been hoping to try:

Till Death Do Us Roast by 100 Watt Stadsbrouwerij Eindhoven – 11.2% ABV Imperial Stout – Dark black fruit aroma. Flavor dark coffee roast and bitter. The 100 IBU much more prevalent than the 11.2% ABV. decent body when warm.

Then a stop by my usual haunt at Van Moll to kill some time with a couple tasters:

Mocha Monster by Cervesa Guineu and Van Moll – 10.1% ABV Imperial Porter – Nice dark coffee mocha aroma and flavor. Light sweet, not too much.

Cuvée De Malterie by De Mouterij – 8% ABV Barrel Aged Sour Oud Bruin – Very nice Flemish red balsamic aroma. And the flavor does not disappoint. Excellent Flanders red balsamic flavor. This is very impressive.

Baja by Brauhaus Bevog – 5.8% ABV Oatmeal Stout – Lots of oat and dark roasted malt flavors. Some nice hops to bring balance.

Then over to Jokkmokk for the Beer & Cheese Pairing, with beers from De Bierbrigadier.

PRUFUS by Brouwerij Rufus – 6% ABV Blonde Ale – Blonde with coriander and lemon. Fruit and spice aroma. Nice fruity bitter.

Holy Excrement by Jopen with Borg Brugghús – 7% ABV Smoked Saison – Smoky aroma, from the traditional Icelandic Sheep Shit Smoked malt. Spices; Arctic thyme and heather. Lovely toasty smoky spiced flavor. So interesting. Even more amazing with the Camembert.

Summer of ’17 by Brouwerij De Molen – 5.7% ABV Pale Wheat Ale – Hoppy, malty aroma. Flavor is fruity hops and a nice residual bitter. Paired with a truffle red bacteria cheese. Really bring out the fruit.

Guanabana Mañana by Dois Corvos with Brouwerij Frontaal – 7.6% ABV IPA – Lemony citrus aroma. More smooth tropical flavors. Nice tart sour and bitter. Hazy and full. Excellent.

R’eye Of The Storm by Lux Brewery – 10% ABV Barleywine – Barleywine with rye and honey. Aroma is sweet, toffee, honey, even a little fennel. Served with a blue from Utrecht.

Rosé by Tommie Sjef Wild Ales – 5% ABV Sour Ale – Excellent sour, smooth yet fruity. And with the paired goat cheeses, brings out the vanilla toast of the barrels.

At this point, we realized how close I was to unique check-in #5000 on untappd, and the elusive Epic badge. So Casper from De Bierbrigadier grabbed a special beer from the shop and we wandered back over to Van Moll where we could reach the milestone.

The Kraken by Pontus Brewing – 10.5% ABV Imperial Porter – Quite nice. Dark cocoa and anise. Light sweet. Ok body. Very good.

Kiss From A Rose by Van Moll – 5.5% ABV Witbier – Nice citrus and floral aroma. Very floral flavor. Rose petals and a light hoppy citrus. Brewed with lychee, rosewater, and lemon.
