This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. Day 65: March 6, 2015
Diary entry:
Nice weather today. So glad I waited the extra day to make the drive down to PA.
Slept in this morning and made the drive down to Philly just after rush hour. Such an easy drive! Made it in just around two hours…only very slight traffic approaching the George Washington Bridge from the Henry Hudson Parkway. I’m glad I wasn’t heading into the city, traffic heading North towards the Bridge was at least an hour backed up!
Go to my sister’s with plenty of time to do my laundry and help with some errands before dinner at the hotel and the Friday night service for my niece’s Bat Mitzvah. After that, off to Iron Abbey in Horsham, PA to try a new beer.
The Beer:
Name: Abbatia Avena Xx
Style: Imperial / Double IPA
Producer: Free Will Brewing Co.
Alcohol content: 9.3%
Bottle size: 10 oz Draft
Purchased from: Iron Abbey in Horsham, PA
Abbatia Avena Xx is a local collaboration beer for the Iron Abbey in Horsham, PA. Brewed by Free Will Brewing. A well-balanced DIPA brewed with oats. Lots of Grapefruit flavor and bitterness. A nice mix.
