This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 301: October 28, 2015
Diary entry:
Arrived at Tokyo Narita airport this morning, not well rested at all.
Had an older gentleman sitting next to me who was not a very restful passenger. He’d get up from his seat then disappear for 30-45 minutes at a time, then come back just as we’d be dozing off and need us to move so he could get back in. then once he was there, he’d be fidgeting and shifting and knocking into me constantly, waking me back up every time. And to top it off, the lights wouldn’t dim in our Economy Comfort cabin, so we had to deal with the lights being on the entire flight.
One would think KLM would have updated the interiors of their 747 fleet by now…
Had to kill an hour at the airport waiting for our bus to the Hilton Tokyo Bay hotel at Tokyo Disneyland, and found that there are now Data SIM cards available from vending machines, so will give one of those a try this trip.
Spent a few hours at Tokyo Disney, having the Halloween Afternoon Tea at the Dreamer’s Lounge at the Disneyland Hotel and a visit to Tokyo DisneySEA and Ikspiari, where I stocked up on a number of cans of Japanese beers in case we don’t make it into town for the craft beer scene of Tokyo, otherwise for Hong Kong emergencies.
In the end, an early night’s sleep, in bed before 10PM.
The Beer:
Name: Aooni
Style: American IPA
Producer: Yo-Ho Brewing Company
Alcohol content: 7.0%
Bottle size: 0.35 l can
Purchased from: Grocery Store at Ikspiari near Tokyo Disneyland in Japan
Aooni by Yo-Ho Brewing Company of Nagano. A nice, citrusy IPA. Decent flavor, with some hoppy bitterness. Very smooth drinking.
