This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 152: June 1, 2015
Diary entry:
Monday morning. And back to work.
June has begun, and this is always a busy month. The last month of the first half year. The last month of the second quarter. The last month for mid-year targets and goals to be met. Lots of emergency requests always cross my desk during the month of June. And this June, I’m only in the office for the first two weeks of the month! Something tells me these will be busy weeks!
A long day in the office today, another 12-hour marathon. But more relaxed in the evening as we took the time to watch the unveiling of The World’s 50 Best Restautants. We were extremely interested in the results, as we had just visited two of the top 10 restaurants from 2014 during the past month, and wanted to see how they fared for 2015.
We were thrilled to see El Celler de Can Roca rise back to the number 1 spot this year! It’s not every day you can say that you just had dinner at the best restaurant in the world! And we were equally thrilled to see the elevation of Narisawa to the #8 spot on the list this year. We were a little perplexed to see that last year’s #8, Arzak, which we also visited during the month of May, 2015, ranked #17 this year. We had an incredible lunch at Arzak, and seeing that they are now rated as the world’s 17th best restaurant really shows how great the rest of the competition must have been!
The Beer:
Name: Basic Premium Lager
Style: Pale Lager
Producer: Albert Heijn
Alcohol content: 5.0%
Bottle size: 0.33l Can
Purchased from: Albert Heijn
A basic lager from the Albert Heijn grocery supermarket. Brewed for Albert Heijn in collaboration with Bavaria. This beer was actually pretty decent for a basic lager.
