This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 213: August 1, 2015
Diary entry:
Seven months done and in the books. 212 Beers of the Day. That’s a lot of beers. If I did that for four years straight, that’d be, lets see, 365*4 + 212. Carry the one. 1672 beers. That’d be a lot of different beers!
Today, I went to a beer event at Van Moll in Eindhoven where they were releasing today’s beer of the day, Benzai’s 10K, which they brewed in honor of a guy named Benzai, who on RateBeer, has just reviewed his 10,000th different beer! All since 2011!
10,000!
I’m actually approaching 2,500 unique check-ins on Untappd, in the same time frame. And I thought I was on a fast pace.
For every beer I’ve tried, he’s tried more than FOUR!
Cheers!
I’m not going to try to compete. I’m happy with enjoying the ones I do try, being able to do more than just a sip or two. After all, the whole reason I use Untappd is to be able to keep track of the beers I’ve tried, and which ones I did or did not enjoy, so that when I find myself in a new place and have a beer list to review, I can see which ones are new, and if there are no new beers, I can recheck which ones I had or had not enjoyed.
It’s about the keeping track and future reference.
Sure, the badges are fun, too 🙂
The Beer:

Sorry for the bad photo, apparently every photo I took was focused on the background
Benzai’s 10K by Van Moll. Thick. Nice dark bitter chocolate and black black cherry. Good roasted bitterness. This is what you earn with 10,000 beer checkins on RateBeer, an excellent beer brewed in your honor!
