This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 363: December 29, 2015
Diary entry:
My last work day of 2015.
My brother is coming in tomorrow, and we’re spending the New Year on a road trip to Vienna, so today will be my last day in the Netherlands this year.
Went to work in the morning and finished off the presentation I wanted to complete yesterday, and then made some plans with a colleague from work for a beer in the evening, when the bars open at 5PM.
With so much time to kill, I went back home first so I could take the train in.
We visited both of the main craft beer pubs in Eindhoven this evening, Drinker’s Pub and Van Moll.
I sampled a number of beers at Drinker’s Pub, including a couple from Oldskool I had not tried prior.
Van Moll also had a number of new offerings from their own brewery on draft, so I managed to finish off strong on sampling new Dutch beers today.
But the best beer I had today wasn’t Dutch, but a collaboration between a British brewery and an American brewery.
The Beer:
Name: Blue Sky Blue Sea
Style: Gose
Producer: Siren Craft Brew and Surly Brewing Company
Alcohol content: 5%
Bottle size: 0.33 l
Purchased from: Van Moll in Eindhoven
Blue Sky Blue Sea by Siren Craft Brew. Cloudberry? Who ever heard of a cloudberry? Apparently they come from the northern part of Sweden. Well, they provide this beer with a darned good sour flavor. With a very drying, fruity aftertaste. I liked it a lot!
This beer was brewed in collaboration by Siren and Surley as part of the Rainbow Project 2015. The beer is a seaweed and cloudberry gose.
