This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 143: May 23, 2015
Diary entry:
What do you do with a three-day weekend after three weeks of constant travel?
Absolutely nothing!
We bandied about the idea of heading down to Paris. We considered just doing some beer tourism in Belgium. We considered going to a Dutch winery.
We did nothing!
Played catch-up today on blog-related stuff. Helped Erin with some of the other blogs. Caught up on some old posts.
Relaxed.
And it felt good!
The Beer:
Name: Bolshevik Peche
Style: Saison / Farmhouse Ale
Producer: De Struise Brouwers
Alcohol content: 2.9%
Bottle size: 0.75l
Purchased from: De Struise Browers
Belgian Crisis Ale.
Picked this one up on one of my recent visits to the De Struise brewery in Vleteren, Belgium. They don’t usually have a lot of bottles available for purchase, so I try to pick up anything they offer I haven’t tried before. Was unsure whether I wanted to pick thids one up or not, but decided I may as well. Who knows when I’d get to try it again, and it certainly wasn’t expensive, just a couple euros.
Only 2.9% abv. Some flavors, but very light. Watery mouthfeel. Refreshing at least.
Commercial Description:
Blonde Session Ale of 2,9% with the addition of peaches. By using Cascade and Styrian Golding hops, we get the subtle notes of spring blossoms and soft citrus fruits. The fresh peaches add a subtle exotic touch.
