This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 99: April 9, 2015
Diary entry:
Second day of the workshop went very well. We managed to complete the task, and even get into the next steps which would have been part of the next workshop. Who says progress has to suffer by having a smaller task force!
Got a last minute invite to a Rib Night dinner at De Bengel in Eindhoven, which is always a nice chance to hang out with my fellow Americans at the office. And the ribs are pretty good, too! People always want to go to places with all-you-can-eat spareribs, but the portion you get at De Bengel is already more than I care to eat, so who needs the extra of an all-you-can-eat place?
The normal wander down to Stratumseind for a beer at De Kram, an old hangout for over ten years now! Not anywhere near as busy on Stratumseind as it used to be. Or maybe I’m just not staying out late enough anymore to see it busy…
The Beer:
Name: Bomb Fondant
Style: Stout
Producer: Brasserie Bours
Alcohol content: 7.7%
Bottle size: 0.33 l
Purchased from: De Kram in Eindhoven
A local stout from Brasserie Bours in Eindhoven. An unexpected find at the bottom of their beer fridge. Decent dark flavors. Bittersweet chocolate notes. Sounds like perhaps this one may have been even better if I could find it on draft…will keep an eye out for it.
