Day 64: March 5, 2015
Diary entry:
Well, today came, and so did the snow. It turned out to be much worse that I had expected. Before leaving the hotel, I arranged a late check-out, and they assured me that if I called before 1PM, they could extend my stay. I made that decision before 10AM, and extended my hotel through to Friday morning. Sorry, York! Next time!
Stuck it out at the office until 4PM, and the snow finally stopped around 6PM. After seeing and hearing about the flight delays, train delays, traffic accidents, and even the Delta flight running off the runway at La Guardia, I’m glad I waited it out.
The Beer:
Name: Chocolate Truffle Stout
Style: American Stout
Producer: Thomas Hooker Brewing Co.
Alcohol content: 7.1%
Bottle size: 12 oz Bottle
Purchased from: The Little Pub, Wilton, CT
After today’s snow, I stayed close by my hotel, and finally popped into The Little Pub for a snack and some beer. Not too many Connecticut selections, ad I already had the Sea Hag last night, so I went for the Chocolate Truffle Stout by Thomas Hooker Brewing Co. of Bloomfield, CT.
This was a very chocolatey beer, delightful flavor, and you can’t tell at all that this is up there at 7.1%!
Commercial Description: Our sweet stout is made in collaboration with Connecticut’s favorite chocolatier, Munson’s Chocolate. Copious amounts of oat malt produce a silky, full bodied beer laced with hints of roast and chocolate derived from dark malts. Each sip ends with a mild chocolate bitterness from Munson’s proprietary cocoa powder, added generously to the brew. To round out this beer, we add several pounds of cocoa nibs at the end of fermentation to provide a fresh chocolate aroma.
