This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 122: May 2, 2015
Diary entry:
This is the day! 10:45 AM speaking session at TBEX Europe 2015 in Lloret de Mar, Costa Brava, Spain. The team of Our Tasty Travels is speaking on how to incorporate wine and beer content into your travel blog.
And I’m nervous as heck!
We had to wake at 5AM to do a final run through and make any last minute adjustments, and missed the opening keynote to finish our preparations for the talk.
We’d seen a number of updates on Facebook and Twitter from people having a long night the night before, so we feared that there wouldn’t be much turnout for our session. Especially since we’re speaking at the same time as some of the biggest-name speakers and most popular sessions at the conference.
Thankfully, we had a decent turnout. Not a packed room, but not too empty, either. And aside from some Wi-Fi induced technical issues that kept interrupting our presentation, I think we did a pretty good job.
But I was BEAT!
The rest of the day was pretty much a haze of exhaustion and adrenaline aftermath, and I could barely keep my eyes open at dinner.
The Beer:
Name: Ciel Bleu IPA
Style: American India Pale Ale
Producer: Brouwerij ‘t IJ
Alcohol content: 7.0%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: Gall & Gall at Schiphol Airport
The Ciel Bleu IPA was part of the road-trip stash for those nights when I wasn’t able to or up to finding a local beer to include in the challenge.
This beer featured nice bitterness. Perhaps just the slightest bit fruity. I’ve heard that this second batch is not quite as good as the original batch, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Commercial Description: Together with chefs Onno Kokmeijer and Arjan Speelman of the Michelin-starred restaurant Ciel Bleu we created this highly tasty I.P.A. The dry-hop with Waimea and Citra hops gives the beer a floral, bitter character and the addition of kaffir lime provides a tropical touch. Completed by a deep golden color, the Ciel Bleu I.P.A. is an irresistable beer. Ciel Bleu I.P.A. is on the menu of restaurant Ciel Bleu and is limited available in our pub.
