This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 295: October 22, 2015
Diary entry:
Had a big integration session this morning on the project with the tightest deadlines. Helped present all of our findings to date, and have things really poised for the next phase. Also a few conference calls on some of the last remaining open targets.
At lunch time, I finally got a go for my upcoming travel, so that’s off the plate at least as well.
Spent the evening finalizing the rest of our personal travel plans during the trip, now that the flights are approved. Quite a relief!
The Beer:
Name: Dark Abbey
Style: Belgian Strong Dark Ale
Producer: Top Out Brewery
Alcohol content: 8.9%
Bottle size: 0.33 l
Purchased from: Whiskey King in Edinburgh, Scotland
Dark Abbey by Top Out Brewery. Quite tasty! Chocolate and vanilla aroma (tootsie roll!). Dark chocolate and coffee flavors over a bitterness. Perhaps a bit astringent. Some fruitiness, which explains some why this is a Belgian Strong Dark Ale as opposed to a Stout. Picked this one up in Scotland last year. Limited Edition 1. Best by was August, but able to age. 8.9%.
