This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 282: October 9, 2015
Diary entry:
A decent Friday.
Took a late start to work today since we had to stop by the town hall here in Boxtel to bring them a copy of Erin’s birth certificate. We’ve been living here for over three years, and only yesterday they contacted me that they didn’t have a copy, even though we provided all of the documents when we moved here in 2012!
Oh well. No fighting bureaucracy. Luckily we have the documents sitting at home, so just make an appointment and take care of business.
Had to walk through the Boxtel Friday farmer’s market to get to the town hall, so of course, since we had to walk back through again on the way home, we wandered through the market for a few things, such as freshly made stroopwafels. Yum!
Off to work for a few important meetings, including some rework due to another important decision finally being made. Not much rework, and luckily the word came in before I did triple work that I was planning to do today, so good timing!
But now it’s weekend!
The Beer:
Name: Daybreak
Style: Imperial Stout
Producer: Hill Farmstead Brewery
Alcohol content: 10.0%
Bottle size: .375 l
Purchased from: De Hopduvel in Ghent, Belgium
Daybreak by Hill Farmstead Brewery and Mikkeller. To end the week, break the day! Bitter dark chocolate aroma. More bitter dark flavor. Some toast from barrel. Anise undertones. Some hints of the citrus and French orange liqueur as well. Nice!
Daybreak was brewed in 2014 by Hill Farmstead Brewery of Greensboro, VT, in collaboration with Mikkel Borg Bjergsø of Mikkeller in Denmark. It’s an Imperial Stout, brewed with citrus, and aged in freshly emptied French orange liqueur barrels.
