This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 142: May 22, 2015
Diary entry:
Back to work today. And being Friday, a relatively quiet agenda. But as is typical for a Friday without a full agenda, I actually managed to get quite a bit done.
Just not a lot on the actual project. But that’ll come back next week.
Had to be out of the office around 4PM to pick up a second part of the prescription from the pharmacy in Boxtel, a good excuse to start the long weekend early.
The Beer:
Name: Dead Man’s Hand (Wine Barrel Aged)
Style: Russian Imperial Stout
Producer: Hobbybrouwerij Het Nest
Alcohol content: 10.0%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: De Hopduvel bottle shop in Ghent, Belgium
Black flavors of chocolate and licorice. And hints of dark fruits, like cherries. Well done!
Commercial Description:
Black colored beer with a pronounced complex character. When served at the right temperature, you can find flavors of chocolate, coffee, caramel, and dark fruit (raisins), supported by a little anise. Brewed to own recipe at Brewery Pirlot in Zandhoven – Belgium.
Browerij Het Nest is a group of friends making excellent craft beer. With their beers they want to promote Turnhout as a world wide center of the playing card industry.
