This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 205: July 24, 2015
Diary entry:
I do so enjoy Fridays.
Usually a relatively quiet schedule, offering a chance to catch up on all the work that falls behind while sitting in meetings and workshops all week long. I did have a few workshops today that took up some time, but otherwise I had a chance to catch up, which was well received on my end.
I even managed to leave work and hit the gym for the first time in a few months today. Definitely something I was in need of. I’ll be doing more of this from now on!
The Beer:
Name: Den Zwarte Sinjoor
Style: Stout
Producer: Huisbrouwerij ‘t Pakhuis
Alcohol content: 6.7%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: De Caigny in Essen, Belgium
Den Zwarte Sinjoor by Huisbrouwerij ‘t Pakhuis was my beer tonight. Another pickup from De Caigny a few weeks ago. The beer featured a very nice, dark roasted bitterness. A very nice aftertaste.
The beer is based on a recipe from 1914, and shared first prize at the 2014 Modeste Bierfestival by Brouwerij De Koninck.
‘t Pakhuis is a microbrewery in the south of Antwerp, Belgium, that has been in operation since 1996. Their beers are brewed from the beginning til end inside an old warehouse. In summer 2013, a bottling machine arrived, making it possible for them to distribute their beers.
