Day 58: February 27, 2015
Diary entry:
San Diego, Day 1. Staying at the Doubletree Golf Resort in Northern San Diego again, and as always, stunning views when you wake up. Definitely views that make me want to stay here longer.
My return to the San Diego office for the first time since I spent six months here last year, until April, was one I was looking forward to a little. I was curious how I would be received, if I had been missed, etc. It had been quiet since I left, which I was hoping was a good sign that I had done a good enough job tranferring knowledge that they just didn’t need to get in touch much.
Turns out that was the case! I was touched by how much people welcomed me back, and how much more smoothly things seemed to be running. I even got invited out for a happy hour after work, which is not something that happened much during my previous six month stint, and never happens in the Netherlands.
After that, dinner with some old friends at the San Diego Brewing Company.
The Beer:
Name: Denogginizer
Style: Imperial/Double IPA
Producer: Drake’s Brewing Compan
Alcohol content: 9.75%
Bottle size: 11oz. Draft
Purchased from: San Diego Brewing Company
Tonight’s beer of the night is Denogginizer by Drake’s Brewing Company that operates out of an old Caterpillar plant in San Leandro, Ca. A decent double IPA from a brewery I’ve never tried before. A little less carbonated than most.
Commercial Description: An Imperial (or Double) India Pale Ale, Denogginizer is a big, bold beer hopped with an abundant amount of Simcoe and Summit hops and a touch of CTZ and Cascade. Crystal and Munich malts add color and flavor and help balance out the hop assault. Denogginizer is also Drake’s most powerful regular offering, at a whopping 9.75% alcohol by volume!
