This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 198: July 17, 2015
Diary entry:
A pretty quiet day, with some gorgeous weather. Also a bit of a somber mood at work for those of us who lost friends and colleagues on Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 one year ago today. Throughout the country, flags were flying at half mast in memory of the anniversary.
I left work a little early today to go sit on the patio up in Boxtel. It was an interesting experience, as today officially marks the start of the summer holiday period for the region, and large groups of individuasls were out together celebrating the start of their vacations. One tradition they would follow is the releasing of balloons into the air with wishes and messages attached to them. It was actually pretty windy, so it was fun seeing the message-laden balloons fly up into the air, being carried away quickly to points unknown.
The Beer:
Name: Double Dutch DIPA
Style: Double IPA
Producer: Jopen and Emelisse
Alcohol content: 8.0%
Bottle size: 0.33l draft
Purchased from: Cafe de Borrel in Boxtel, the Netherlands
Double Dutch DIPA by Jopen in collaboration with Emelisse. A DIPA from two of my favorite Dutch breweries. Just released this week! This is a very nice DIPA. Good bitterness, with real flavor to boot. I really, truly enjoyed this beer. To the point where it got a few redrinks over the weekend while it was still on draft. Well done!
The beer is also available in bottles now. I have not yet tried the bottle to compare if I enjoy it as much as the draft.
Commercial Description: Collab with Emelisse brewed for our 20th anniversary. A Double IPA brewed with barley, rye and oats and hopped up to 80 EBU with Kasbek and Zythos.
