This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 85: March 26, 2015
Diary entry:
An early start to finish off the deliverable assigned to me yesterday by today’s deadline, which I finished off with no problem! A few other tasks, and then meetings most of the rest of the day. A few quick requests as I was heading out the door, but managed to make it out of the office at 5 PM for the first time in ages!
Dinner was Rib Night with some American colleagues in Eindhoven at De Bengel. This used to be a weekly event, but as fewer Americans were visiting the office for training, and people started to move further from the center of town, these events have been decreasing in frequency, so I took the opportunity to join when it came up.
I wasn’t sure how much opportunity there would be for a new beer tonight, so I took tonight’s beer before taking the train to Eindhoven for dinner, just to be safe, and to avoid having to scramble before taking the train home or after getting home. Turns out, I did wind up with another new beer later in the evening that would have been a good selection, but we’ll stick with the original selection.
The Beer:
Name: Durboyse Brune
Style: Belgian Brown Ale
Producer: Brasserie Lefebvre
Alcohol content: 6.3%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: Durboy, Belgium
Durboyse Brune by Brasserie Lefebvre. A pickup from Durboy, Belgium. A basic Belgian Brune. A little sweet, but not too sweet. Not much flavor otherwise, unfortunately, either. Turns out, this is just an alternative labeling of the Floreffe Double also by Brasserie Lefebvre.
Commercial Description: This hearty beer is reddish in color and boasts a rich, creamy head, with overtones of anise and dry hop flavor.
