This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 325: November 21, 2015
Diary entry:
I spent the morning catching up on blog posts and episodes of Breaking Bad, generally being a lump on the couch, and at the desk. Relaxing, despite the work.
Then I saw a post on Facebook that someone saw bottle of Tre Fontane Triple, the last Trappist beer I need to taste, at a bottle shop around 30 minutes away, and it closed in an hour! Hopped in the car and made a run over, but alas, they were already sold out!
ARGH!
Back home and down to Eindhoven for an event being put on by my company where employees were on stage at the local music hall, performing live in their own bands or solo. This is the second time, and I must say, it’s fairly enjoyable!
The good news of all this…I finally managed to stay awake!
Hopefully the worst of the jet lag is now behind me.
The Beer:
Name: Geuze Mariage Parfait (2011)
Style: Oude Geuze
Producer: Brouwerij Boon
Alcohol content: 8.0%
Bottle size: 0.375 l
Purchased from: De Caigny bottleshop in Essen, Belgium
Geuze Mariage Parfait (2011) by Brouwerij Boon. Hard to beat a classic for a rainy Saturday afternoon. Excellent mix of sour and funk.
Commercial Description (Bottle Label):
Geuze Mariage Parfait is an old Geuze which is prepared from at least 3 years old Lambic, specially reserved for this blend, by Frank Boon. Because of the limited supply (approximately 500hl / year) this subtle Geuze is sometimes difficult to obtain. However, your patience is rewarded when you taste it! Serve cool, but not cold.
