This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 289: October 16, 2015
Diary entry:
Another Friday.
I can’t believe how fast these weeks are flying by.
It seems the more deadlines you’re facing at home and at work, the faster time flies towards them.
Today I had a couple of very good work sessions trying to help project #2 meet a number of deadline that are looming. And as my travel plans for the remainder of the year depend in part on these deadlines, I’m really trying extra hard (not that I’m not trying hard anyway) to make sure these are met!
A quiet evening at home, and since the weather forecast is so gloomy, we’re hoping to have a good weekend of working on the blog.
The Beer:
Name: Gozer Oak Aged
Style: Oatmeal Stout
Producer: Kaapse Brouwers
Alcohol content: 9.8%
Bottle size: 0.33 l
Purchased from: De Hopduvel in Ghent, Belgium
Gozer Oak Aged by Kaapse Brouwers. Dark black-brown color. No head to speak of, and not much carbonation. The Gozer Oak Aged features nice chocolate, coffee, and roasted barrel flavors. Had a strong whiff of what smelled like rum on opening, but you don’t really get the rum in the flavor. Which is good for me as I don’t like the alcohol from my barrels overpowering the flavor of the beer. This is a well done, excellent beer.
