This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. Day 308: November 4, 2015
Diary entry:
Early morning start at work today. We received an invite to attend the Disney Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Harbor City this evening, so I wanted to get as much done as possible before I had to leave. Luckily, the late afternoon calls with Europe I had in my agenda were all cancelled, which made it possible for me to take off.
A long day of meetings, discussing mostly the big open topic. We had some really good discussions, and I think we came to a good solution. That’s a relief!
Also managed to do a few sessions on the official contents of my visit, and that’s almost complete now as well.
The tree lighting ceremony was fun, though very crowded. I think a bit of it was lost on me since it was all in Cantonese and I’m not up on the local Hong Kong celebrities.
Since we were already out and at Harbor City, we followed the ceremony with a jaunt on the Star Ferry over to Hong Kong Island, and out to Causeway Bay for some Xiao Long Bao at Paradise Dynasty in Causeway Bay, and some more gourmet ice cream afterwards. There’s a sweet Star Wars display at the Times Square in Causeway Bay right now, so check it out if you’re a Star Wars fan in the area!
The Beer:
Name: Great WhiteStyle: Witbier
Producer: Mac’s Brewery (Lion Nathan)
Alcohol content: 5.0%
Bottle size: 0.33 l
Purchased from: Seven-11 on Mody Road, near the Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui
Mac’s Great White [Cloudy Wheat Beer] by Mac’s Brewery of Wellington, New Zealand. Found this beer at the 7-11, wasn’t expecting a NZ beer in a Hong Kong 7-11. And it’s good! Decent flavor, some drying aftertaste. I like it!
