This post is a continuation of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I drank at least one new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. This year I may deviate from the diary format in some posts, hoping to concentrate more on the locations and the breweries I am enjoying. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 370: January 5, 2016
Diary entry:
Not much exciting going on.
I spent the entire day in offsite workshops, with stints in the office both before and after the session. A long day, but productive. There’s going to be a lot more going on in Project 1 than I realized for this year, so I may have to be more involved there than originally anticipated. Of course, I can’t let the other projects lapse, so it just means more working hours in the day.
Anyone have a time-turner I can borrow?
Despite this, I did manage to pop into the gym for a bit after work today. Though I don’t think a single sessions will help too much for the coming health check. Which is now on Friday, and not next week! Apparently there was a miscommunication on the scheduled date, and instead of being Monday, they had me for next Thursday, which has been booked since September for an important workshop on project two. The only time that fit my agenda in January now is this coming Friday. I will have to stop by the hospital tomorrow to give blood samples for the exam, but the required fast for that is only eight hours, so as long as I drink tonight’s beer before midnight, no problem!
The Beer:
Name: Grosse Bertha
Style: Hefeweizen
Producer: Brussels Beer Project
Alcohol content: 7.0%
Bottle size: 0.33 l
Purchased from: Given to me for free by Brussels Beer Project when I visited the brewery with some other beer bloggers during #EBBC15 in August, 2015.
Grosse Bertha by Brussels Beer Project. A 7% Hefeweizen. I found this to be a very nice Hefeweizen. Poured a clear gold, with a nice foamy head. Wheaty aromas, and a clean, crisp flavor. Moderate fruit and flowery flavors, a little banana. This was quite a tasty Hefe.
Grosse Bertha was the chosen selection for the wheat beer of the Brussels Beer Project when they tested four different wheat beer recipes in 2014. Grosse Bertha contains elements of a Bavarian Oktoberfest beer and a Belgian Tripel, to bring us a Belgian Hefeweizen.
