This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 162: June 11, 2015
Diary entry:
Each day closer to vacation seems to get busier and busier.
Everyone seems to realize that I’ll be out for the next three weeks now, so quite a number of last-minute questions before I go. A few routine meetings as well, and suddenly a number of urgent topics coming up for which follow-up meetings will be required. Guess they’ll either have to handle them without me, or wait for me to return.
The Beer:
Name: Heymisse
Style: Belgian Dark Ale
Producer: De Verhuisbrouwerij
Alcohol content: 9.0%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: De Hopduvel in Ghent, Belgium.
Great dark coffee and sour flavors. But once again, this beer was a gusher. Open over the sink if you find one of these! It’s becoming a bit of a sad story, when one of my favorite styles of beers is a gusher every time I open one.
Commercial Description:
De Verhuisbrouwerij a mobile brewery of a few beer enthusiasts who are taking their brewery-on-wheels to give beer brewing demonstrations around the country
Heymisse contains Brazilian guarana beans that provide a touch of caffeine (only 10% of an average cup of coffee.)
Store in a dark place and serve between 6 and 12 C. Carefully pour the yeast and bottom to taste separately.
A unique concoction of only a few hundred liters brewed by De Verhuisbrouwerij in the kettles of ‘t Hofbrouwerijke in Beersel, Belgium.
