This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Day 293: October 20, 2015
Diary entry:
A bit of a long day today.
I had to wake up earlier than usual to go to an offsite meeting for one of the groups I support, which was being held in Kasterlee, Belgium. I had a 45-minute drive to get there, and a start time of 7:45 AM. Last time they had one there, I was a little late due to higher than expected traffic, and I didn’t want that to happen again, so I left early. Perhaps too early, as I arrived around 7:15. At least the meeting room was open and they had coffee.
The venue was De Watermolen, which is also a very nice restaurant. And since lunch was included on the program, I was lucky to get to try their full three-course lunch set, which was delicious! Too bad this was a work session, as it would have been even better with some proper wine pairings.
By the time I got home, it was almost 8PM already, so we kept it simple for dinner, for which an IPA was in order.
The Beer:
Name: Hilldevil India Pale Ale
Style: American IPA
Producer: Hilldevils
Alcohol content: 6.5%
Bottle size: 0.33 l
Purchased from: De Caigny bottleshop in Essen, Bekgium
Hilldevil India Pale Ale by Hilldevils. I have to admit, Hilldevils is very quickly becoming one of my favorite IPA producers in the Netherlands!
Their base India Pale Ale features a citrusy bitterness, with some fruity sweetness, but not a lot. Quite a nice IPA. Simcoe hops. 100 EBU.
