This post is a continuation of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I drank at least one new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. This year I may deviate from the diary format in some posts, hoping to concentrate more on the locations and the breweries I am enjoying. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 393: January 28, 2016
Diary entry:
Flight day.
Up way too early, around 5AM, but luckily I was already fully packed, and just had to shower, dress, and grab my bags and pop into the car for an hour drive up to the airport. I was there before any of the Amsterdam rush hour traffic started, relaxing in the KLM lounge before my first meeting of the day would have been scheduled to begin.
An uneventful flight. Even in an aisle with two people inside from me, I never was bothered with them needing to go past. And I do even make a point of asking before I plan to close my eyes or anything. I managed to grab a couple hours of sleep, which did help.
A little.
Got to do some running around the LA area with Erin’s father, picking up their dogs and some Mexican food for dinner.
But in the end, by 8PM, I was seriously hitting the wall (it was 5AM again for me!) and had a very tough Domue Droop until finally throwing in the towel at 10PM. Not bad, since tomorrow’s an early day.
The Beer:
Name: Horchata Porter
Style: Porter
Producer: Ensenada Brewing Co. (Old Mission Brewery)
Alcohol content: 6.0%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: Purchased by Erin on her Southwest Roadtrip in September and left at her parents’ house
Horchata Porter by Ensenada Brewing Co. (Old Mission Brewery). Eating good Mexican food for dinner with Erin and her parents. We had these Mexican beers that Erin had picked up during her road trip. Dark and chocolate base Porter with lots of horchata spices (including cinnamon and vanilla). Quite a tasty beer, especially with a nice Mexican dinner.
