This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 117: April 27, 2015
Diary entry:
It’s King’s Day in the Netherlands, but we’re on the road heading through the south of France to Spain.
Started the morning in Beaune, then spent a few hours exploring the Côte de Beaune, and some more of it’s famous wine villages. Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet. Spent quite a while, but even found the Les Rugiens vineyard in Pommard, from which we have a couple of bottles of nice red burgundy. As with yesterday, such an incredible experience to be able to see the vines first hand, which I have been enjoying the fruits from for the past few years. I definitely feel more of a connection to these Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines after seeing these villages and vineyards first hand.
We also stopped in Cheateauneuf-du-Pape in the Southern Rhone, where we saw the vineyards of Syrah and Grenache in their rocky soil, as well as the ruins of the old chateau.
The rest of the journey was uneventful along the south of the country, driving through the Languedoc region, eventually arriving in Lloret de Mar, Spain, where we’ll be based for the coming week.

I brought this one with me on the road trip, knowin there would be some days when I would have difficulty finding a local beer due to too much driving, etc. Today was the first of those days. Hopefully won’t e a problem going forward as I pick up local beers as backups for the rest of the trip.
