This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. From December 1 through December 24, I’m going to try to use a Christmas Beer for each day of Advent as part of my #ottadvent15 2015 Advent Calendar. Follow along with the tag ottadvent15.
Day 340: December 6, 2015
Diary entry:
An interesting day that didn’t go entirely according to plan.
Was supposed to pick up a colleague to go to a Christmas Market this morning, but it seems the flight from JFK to Amsterdam yesterday had a bit of a delay. Six hours, to be precise. So when I was at the hotel in Eindhoven at 11AM, the plan was still an hour out of Amsterdam! By the time everything had worked itself out, it was 3PM, and needless to say, a bit late to be heading over to Germany for a market.
Luckily, there was a beer festival as well in Haaren, not far from Boxtel, where I live. I found out about the festival last night, so the timing couldn’t have been better.
Crisis averted.
The Beer:
Name: Kerstbier
Style: Winter Ale
Producer: Jantjes Bieren
Alcohol content: 9.0%
Bottle size: 0.30 l
Purchased from: Winter Bieren Festival 2015 at De Michel Eetcafé & Zalen in Haaren, Netherlands
Kerstbier by Jantjes Bieren. Actually, not bad. Wee bit sweet, but not as bad as I would have thought. Nice dark, fruit spice flavors. Better from bottle than draft. 30cl. 9% ABV.
