This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 10: January 10, 2015
Diary entry:
Quiet day at home. Windy and rainy Dutch weather, long week at work…time to relax. Sitting on the couch. Watching some good movies (Memento is on as I write this) and enjoying a quick beer.
Sometimes, it’s good to just take it easy.
The Beer:
Name: Monk’s Stout
Style: Stout
Producer: Brasserie Dupont
Alcohol content: 5.2%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: De Hopduvel, Ghent, Belgium
Monk’s Stout is part of the pick-up of beers from my early January roadtrip to Ghent. Monk’s Stout was originally brewed by Dupont in the 1950’s, and has been reintroduced in recent years as their capacity has increased at the brewery. Decent bitterness. A little bit smokey. A little but of toffee / caramel at the base. Poured with a lot of head.
