This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. Day 171: June 20, 2015
Diary entry:
We are currently in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy for this year’s Blogville project. We’ll be staying in Bologna, Rimini, and Reggio Emilia over the next two weeks, sampling the local foods, beers, and wines of Emilia Romagna. Follow along with the hashtags #Blogville, #inEmiliaRomagna, and #ViaEmilia.
We’re spending the weekend down in Rimini, where we are attending the Al Meni food circus put on by Massimo Bottura from Osteria Francescana.
Today was our main day at the Al Meni festival, and it was exhausting! Starting from noon, we had two sessions of chefs in the early afternoon, including the main introduction by Massimo Bottura himself.
A few hours off in the afternoon, where we did our purchasing from the local products stalls, and then back for a few hours in the evening, as the larger group of chefs prepared over the final five sessions of the day. This included a session from Vladimir Mukhin of White Rabbit in Moscow, the #23 restaurant on the world in this years World’s 50 Best list.
The Beer:
Name: MyALE
Style: IPA
Producer: La Mata
Alcohol content: 6.2%
Bottle size: 0.3l draft
Purchased from: La Mata booth in the big top tent at the Al Meni food festival
Citrusy, hoppy bitterness. More bitter than many English IPAs, even many double IPAs. Yet packed in 6.2%. I like it! This was one of the La Mata beers on offer in the big top circus tent at the Al Meni festival in Romini, Emilia Romagna.
Commercial Description: Beer top-fermented, amber color, floral and citrus aroma, taste full and round, suitable for an aperitif or a drink with friends.
Serve at 8-10 °
Serving suggestions:
- dishes with predominantly sweet, onion soup, omelette, shellfish, fresh fruit and caramel, pastries and cheeses.
- pizzas with herbs, cheese or buffalo mozzarella.
