This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 47: February 16, 2015
Diary entry:
Waking up was hard to do this morning. Well, I should rephrase. When I woke up at 1AM, no problem. Falling back asleep was even harder to do, as it took me until almost 3AM, and then waking up again at 6:30AM was hard to do. I was going to sleep in, but wanted to make the call to wish my brother a Happy Birthday (Happy Birthday, Michael!) by which time it was time to give in and get ready for work.
Very quiet day, which was very much expected. Between Carnaval and the school holidays, this is always one of the quietest days of the year.
But also one of the days when you can get a lot done without distraction.
The Beer:
Name: Nugget Nectar
Style: Imperial Amber Ale
Producer: Tröegs Brewing Company
Alcohol content: 7.5%
Bottle size: 16oz can
Purchased from: Brought to me as a gift from the US
Commercial Description: Squeeze those hops for all they’re worth! Nugget Nectar Ale will take hopheads to nirvana with a heady collection of American hops. Our Imperial Amber Ale is further intensified with whole flower Nugget hops added to our hopback vessel, resulting in an explosion of citrus, resin and pine.
All I can say? WOW! This is a great beer. Perhaps the best beer I’ve had yet this year. Major hoppy flavors, but with just enough sweetness and fruitiness to balance it out and make this extremely drinkable. Bravo!
