This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 51: February 20, 2015
Diary entry:
Thank goodness it’s Friday. Another work week down on the books. An interesting week, with Carnaval at the start, and a lot of catch-up when everyone came back to the office.
Next week is an abbreviated week, with two days of workshops followed by my trip to the US on Wednesday. I’ll be making a very brief work trip to Chandler, AZ, San Diego, and Wilton, CT, followed by family visits in York and Huntingdon Valley, PA. Just under two weeks in total, but looking forward to it. Especially getting to see my family for a few days.
Plus, will get plenty of opportunities for more, good craft beer options.
The Beer:
Name: Oakey Moakey Whiskey Stout
Style: Stout
Producer: Brouwers Verzet
Alcohol content: 7.5%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: De Hopduvel in Ghent, Belgium
Tonight’s beer of the night was Oakey Moakey Whiskey Stout by Brouwers Verzet of Anzegem, Belgium. Unfiltered and unpasteurized top-fermented beer with secondary fermentation in the bottle and taste evolution. Barrel aged for four months on Irish Whiskey Barrels. Sour aroma and flavor. Almost fruity. Then the whiskey hits, followed by some dryness. Decent. Definitely not a normal whiskey stout.
