This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 247: September 4, 2015
Diary entry:
Today was an all-day off-site workshop to go through some of the top pressing issues facing one of our projects. A good session to really get all of the key people around the table to discuss the questions, make sure everyone had the same understanding, and be ready to get to final answers next week.
And since the session ended around 4:30, I was able to head home around 5:00 and enjoy some time to relax at home.
The Beer:
Name: Oh Buurman Wat Doet U Nu?
Style: American Barleywine
Producer: Het Uiltje
Alcohol content: 11.8%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: De Caigny in Essen, Belgium
Oh! Buurman, Wat doet u nu? by Het Uiltje. Oh neighbor, what are you doing? An 11.8% American Barleywine from Haarlem in the Netherlands. Fruity aroma. Very smooth. Creamy texture. Fruity, alcohol flavor. But very tasty!
The beer’s name is a quote from the 1986 Dutch cult comedy ‘Flodder’. It was said by Tatjana Simic, and I guess you can indeed figure her looks based on the label 🙂
Commercial Description:
American barleywine stuffed with hops and orange peel
Dutch microbrewery from Haarlem, our mission is to create f*cking good beer. Extreme is what we love, IPA’s barrel aged and other funky shit
