This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 203: July 22, 2015
Diary entry:
Much more calm day today, with some catch-up time in the morning, and a workshop on some of the big topics I need to document in the afternoon. One good thing about these types of projects; you’re never at a loss for work!
A very important decision meeting held at the end of the day as well, so one topic crossed off the to-do list. Always a good thing. Unfortunately, the first real meeting for me to become embedded in the third pillar initiative was rescheduled to the same time as the decision meeting, so I had to skip. Will get myself integrated next week…
The Beer:
Name: Oscar Blond
Style: Belgian Blonde
Producer: Brouwerij Eutropius
Alcohol content: 6.6%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: De Caigny in Essen, Belgium
Oscar Blond is by Brouwerij Eutropius, a small Belgian craft brewery from Heule that contract brews for a number of companies and individuals around the world, as well as brews their own beers.
The beer is much more bitter than a normal blonde ale. But tasty! Actually much more the way I prefer my beers.
Commercial Description:
‘Oscar’ was the first successful beer that came out of the home brewery of what would become the Eutropius brewers.
Initially the beer had no name, but after winning a number competitions against the home brews of their friends, the name ‘Oscar’ was chosen, in reference to the famous statue of the Academy Awards for Motion Pictures.
