This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 291: October 18, 2015
Diary entry:
Last night was one of the best nights’ sleeps I’ve had in a few weeks.
Somehow I managed to fall asleep around 10 PM and sleep through until almost 8 AM.
I needed that!
Got some work done this morning, catching up on social media, and then a nice breakfast.
The weather turned out to be not quite as horrendous as it first seemed it would be, so I decided to head down to the Eindhovens Bierfestival in Eindhoven for the afternoon. Which I’m very glad I did! Turned out not to just be a festival of all the usual suspect local breweries, but a nice mix of local breweries from the Eindhoven region, as well as a few breweries from around Europe, including Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Estonia. Quite a good selection!
I did have to drive home after that, so I did have to strictly limit the number of tastes I allowed myself, but I still tried a couple of decent beers while I was there.
The Beer:
Name: Oto Mata IPA
Style: Rice IPA
Producer: Browar Pinta
Alcohol content: 5.2%
Bottle size: 0.15 l pour from a 0.5 l bottle
Purchased from: Eindhovens Bierfestival
Oto Mata IPA by Browar Pinta of Żywiec, Poland. A first for me from this brewery, and my first non-Pilsner Polish beer. And a very first introduction to the beers of Poland! I’ll look for more from them at the Mitra where they carry these. Very citrusy bitterness. Quite good actually. Set the bar fairly high as this was my first beer of the Eindhovens Bierfestival at the Mitra in Eindhoven today.

Since Belgium, I have been more curious about beer. I have been try more and more new types of beer. This is why I am happy I have discovered this series. Great read, giving me new ideas of what beer to try next.
Thanks Laura! If you ever need any tips, let me know!
