This post is a continuation of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I drank at least one new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. This year I may deviate from the diary format in some posts, hoping to concentrate more on the locations and the breweries I am enjoying. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 369: January 4, 2016
Diary entry:
And like that, the holiday period is over.
Two weeks of light schedules. Time to relax.
But now back to the grind.
This first week has been claimed for the restart of Project 1, with the kickoff of this year’s slate of activities. So right from the start, the morning is spent in an off-site workshop.
Unfortunately, the other three main projects, and what I now realize is 8 other sub-projects, are also kicking back off again as well.
I think it’s going to be a busy year!
Luckily I have this beer-a-day project to keep me busy off-hours. Though I do wonder how long I can keep it up. I have a health check scheduled for next week, and have to give blood for that, and also am not supposed to have any alcohol for 24 hours before the check. Will that cause the streak to end?
The Beer:
Name: Rebel Local
Style: Belgian IPA
Producer: Brouwers Verzet
Alcohol content: 8.5%
Bottle size: 0.33 l draft
Purchased from: Bierhandel Willems & Zoon from Grobbendonk, Belgium.
Rebel Local IPA by Brouwers Verzet. Nice bitterness. Slightly malty. Moderate grapefruit aroma and flavor. Not a bad IPA at all. Hallertau hops give the bitter character. But a more subtle bitterness, with a sweet and floral aftertaste from the dry hopping with aroma hops. More of the British-style IPA than American-style. Or, as they prefer, “Verzet-style.”
