This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 244: September 1, 2015
Diary entry:
Those saddest of words.
Back to work.
After a great five days in Belgium for the European Beer Bloggers and Writers Conference, it was a hard return back to the office this morning, but it had to be done!
The holiday season is basically over, a few stragglers remain out, but from the parking lot, you can definitely tell that it’s back to work time.
And with the days already getting shorter, it’s sad to see that summer is almost over.
I put in a pretty full day today, but did force myself to leave at a decent hour. Luc, a coworker and friend who used to live in the Netherlands was in town and having a get-together at Van Moll that I wanted to stop by, so I popped by around 7:30PM for a quick visit.
The Beer:
Name: Red Eye Flight
Style: Imperial / Double Porter
Producer: Tempest Brewing Co
Alcohol content: 7.4%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: Van Moll in Eindhoven, the Netherlands
Red Eye Flight by Tempest Brewing Co. From Kelso, Scotland. Mocha Porter, indeed! Coffee and chocolate abound. Very roasty. And very tasty. Wish it was a wee bit thicker.
Commercial Description:
Malt: Pale, Munich, Chocolate, Crystal, Wheat, Carafa, Amber.
Hops: American.
Mocha Porter brewed with the finest cocoa and demerara then aged on coffee beans to give a smoother cold extraction. This is a complex and robust dark ale.
