This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 181: June 30, 2015
Diary entry:
My god! Has it really been six months since I started this challenge?
Today we returned home from our two week trip to Blogville in Emilia Romagna, Italy, and end the first half of our year.
And what a half year this has been!
Erin was partly based in Belize and made two trips to Japan and Hong Kong via Los Angeles. I was based on the Netherlands, in Greece and both the East and West coats of the US, and made numerous trips to Belgium and Germany. Together, we went to France, Spain, Andorra, Portugal, Switzerland, and Italy. We hit THREE three-Michelin-starred restaurants, including both the current #1 and #2 restaurants in the world!
And I managed to try a new beer every day. For 181 days straight so far!
I suppose this all is nothing to sneeze at!
We made it home a little after lunchtime today, and promptly made a visit to our local doctor to check out some aches and pains.
And how else to spend the rest of the day? Unpacking!
Time for a little break.
Oh, wait, no, work tomorrow, and off to London already on Thursday!
The Beer:
Name: Riegeler Landbier
Style: Helles Lager
Producer: Fürstlich Fürstenbergische Brauerei
Alcohol content: 5.4%
Bottle size: 0.5l
Purchased from: Truck stop just south of Freiburg, Germany
Picked this up at our dinner stop a few km south of Freiburg, Germany, during our 12+ hour drive home from Blogville in Emilia Romagna, Italy. A very decent Helles Lager. Nice bitterness and malty flavor.
Commercial Description:
Landbier is the popular specialty of Riegeler – a beer, as it was formerly often brewed and drunk in the country. It is mildly hopped and fits comfortably and enjoy. His typical golden color and full-bodied, full-bodied flavor owes Landbier the quality malted barley from the region
