This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 253: September 10, 2015
Diary entry:
After two late nights in a row, for the draft and the #FoodTravelChat, I’m definitely feeling a bit more tired today. But still managed to pull a full 8-6. I did force myself out by 6:15 to get home and onto the train for dinner.
Tonight’s dinner was “Rib Night” with the other Americans based at or visiting my company’s headquarters in Veldhoven, the Netherlands. Every few weeks, we meet up for dinner at De Bengel near Eindhoven’s train station, where most of us will order the spare ribs, which are quite good!
We usually follow this up with a stop by one of the “old standard” pubs in town, such as De Kram on Stratumseind.
Tonight, the beer selection was limited at De Kram, so I popped a few doors up to another bar where I know they often have some beers that may be new for me.
The Beer:
Name: Sapphire Hopfen Weisse
Style: Weizen Bock
Producer: Oldskool Brewery
Alcohol content: 8.0%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: The Jack on Stratumseind in Eindhoven, the Netherlands
Sapphire Hopfen Weisseby Oldskool Brewery here in Eindhoven. Always a big fan of their hoppy Weizen beers, and this one did not disappoint. Nice bitterness and a good underlying fruit flavor.
