This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 63: March 4, 2015
Diary entry:
After last night’s snow, I was expecting things to be a bit more treacherous on the road this morning, but all was smooth. Had to clean off the windshield and roof of a wet, heavy snow, but just a minor inconvenience.
More concerning is the forecast for tomorrow. The next (last?) storm of the year is expected to hit tomorrow, and looking at the forecast, it seems to be following the direct path I need to drive on Thursday if I’m going to head down to Mom and Dad’s in York, PA. At the very least, I decided it’s better to get my storage unit stop out of the way today than to worry about it tomorrow, so that’s done at least.
We’ll see how tomorrow goes, well, tomorrow…
The Beer:
Name: Sea Hag IPA
Style: American IPA
Producer: New England Brewing Co.
Alcohol content: 6.2%
Bottle size: 16 oz Draft
Purchased from: The Ginger Man, South Norwalk, CT
Decided to try out a place in South Norwalk that I saw people checking into last night on untappd. A few cool beers on the menu, so pretty excited. Unfortunately, my first choice had kicked, as had my second. Not a good start.
In the end, I “settled” for Sea Hag IPA by New England Brewing Co. I’m in Connecticut for a few days, so what better than a local Connecticut beer! Unfortunately, they were already sold out of the Fuzzy Baby Ducks, so the Sea Hag by the same brewery out of Woodbridge, CT was a viable alternative. Still a very nice IPA.
Commercial Description: This one’s a beauty; a rich and full bodied India Pale Ale with complex malt character blended with cascade and noble hops. The end result is a beer that satisfies the “hop head” out there and won’t chase away the newcomer. Drink it. It’s good.
