This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 101: April 11, 2015
Diary entry:
After the big beer tasting the on Friday night, I was a little unsure if I’d want any beer at all today. But all in the name of the challenge!
At the end of the tasting, some of the smaller bottles were still unopened, so later in the afternoon, after a long day of not doing much of anything, I decided to hop back on the horse and crack it open.
After that, I ventured off into the center of Boxtel for the annual Bier Banjerij around the pubs in the center. Didn;t take part in the full event, but did get to try a few new beers before calling it an early night.
The Beer:
Name: Shark Pants
Style: Belgian IPA
Producer: De Struise Brouwers
Alcohol content: 9.0%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: Givel to me by Nils Masselink after our stout tasting held at Cafe Hoegarden in Tilburg
One of the unopened “palate cleanser” bottles left over at our beer tasting. This was brought by Nils Masselink of BierNetwerk.nl, who told me to take it home to try. A little past it’s prime, but I was still very anxious to give it a try!a Belgian Double IPA from De Struise in collaboration with 3 Floyds. 9% ABV and 300 IBUs. Perhaps the hoppiest IPA ever proudced in Belgium. Still packing great hop bitterness and flavor. Loved it old, can only imagine how good this was fresh. Live a rich life!
