This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 95: April 5, 2015
Diary entry:
Decent hotel breakfast at the Hotel Sonata in Cologne. Amazing how empty the roads were in the city and on the highway back to Eindhoven. Made the drive in really good time.
As soon as I got home, ran over to Tilburg for a movie and then to take part in the Lente 2015 Dwall Bok Tour, “Bock Around the Block.” Seven bars in a few block radius, each with two spring beers, mostly Maibock style. Each beer is only € 3.00, and comes with a small snack (deviled egg, bitterballen, meatball, etc.) Each of the beers was a full size pour, a 0.30 l bottle or an equivalent draft. That’s 14 beers! I have to admit, I didn’t get through them all before calling it a night and heading home.
The Beer:
Name: Springtij
Style: Maibock/Helles Bock
Producer: Texelse Bierbrouwerij
Alcohol content: 7.5%
Bottle size: 0.30 l
Purchased from: Het Wapen van Tilburg
Choosing one beer from the tour was difficult, but going for the Texels Springtij. One of the spring /Easter beers available at the Tilburg Dwaal Bock Tour. Had this Maibock both on draft and from bottle. I think I liked the draft better on this one. More spice notes came out from the tap.
