This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. Day 235: August 23, 2015
Diary entry:
Ok, I did it!
I am finally caught up!
I made it through quite a bit of backlog this morning, and then went off to the Bier in de Tuin beer tasting festival at Cafe Bakker in Tilburg. A very nice afternoon with friends, drinking beers from five different local brewers. As well as sharing in a couple of bottles a few us us brought from home.
Sampled beers:
Kinky Koos by Two Chefs Brewing – Actually pretty darned good. Nice funk. Little sour. But very tasty.
DEWITT by vandeStreek bier – More bitter than wheaty. Citrus a little subdued.
Schnautzi by Van Moll – Wow. That’s a lot of fruit! Banana and orange both coming out big time!
Mirjam by De Bierderie – I met these brewers at the Borefts Beer Festival in Bodegraven last year, and they gave me a bottle of Mirjam then. Tried it again on draft today, and it is still very delicious!
Noord-Hollands Stout by De Noord-Hollandse Bierbrouwerij – Bottles gush, so off market. But the brewers are sharing today. Pretty nice once it opens up. Nice dark aroma. And flavor too. Actually brewed by De Bierderie.
Gozer by Kaapse Brouwers – A fine oatmeal stout.
The bottles:
Black Tuesday (2014) by The Bruery – Oh how I love thee. So much chocolate, caramel, vanilla.
Old Numbskull (2014) by AlesSmith – As always, a very fine American Barleywine.
And today’s beer of the day…
The Beer:
