This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. Day 223: August 11, 2015
Diary entry:
Had a last meeting that ran until 5. So happens, it was in the same building where John, my colleague that I go beer tasting with works. And he shares a room with some of the people I was in that meeting with. So when he heard my meeting had just ended, I got cornered and invited along for some beer tasting again in Eindhoven at Van Moll.
Lawrence of Arabica by Amager Bryghus (7% Porter, Collaboration with 18th Street Brewery of the US) – Heavy on the coffee flavor. Not so much orange zest, but still quite tasty!
Ypres – 2010 Double Barrel Aged Fob by De Struise Brouwers (7% Flanders Oud Bruin) – One of my favorite styles. Nice sourness balanced with the brown and a wee bit of sweetness and fruit flavor.
Doerak by Van Moll (6.3% American IPA) – Heard good things about the new batch on tap. They were right. Tastes more like the last bottle I had. Bravo on this batch!
Green Gold by Mikkeller (7% American IPA) – Slightly maltier than the last. Still very good. Hard to follow a hop bomb
And then, the beer of the night…
The Beer:
Name: The Living End (Bourbon Barrel)
Style: Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout
Producer: Buxton Brewery
Alcohol content: 10.1%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: Van Moll in Eindhoven, the Netherlands
The Living End (Bourbon Barrel) by Buxton Brewery. Very nice (once it warmed up a little). Dark coffee. Caramel and vanilla. Some chocolate. All that dark stuff. A wee bit boozey on the aftertaste. But still lovely. 🙂
