This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 196: July 15, 2015
Diary entry:
Another full-day off-site workshop trying to finalize some important architectural decisions for the projects I’m working on. It’s good to get so many people together in the room to discuss. Hopefully we finalize the decisions after the holidays so everything can really start moving forward.
The Beer:
Name: Tripel Klok
Style: Belgian Tripel
Producer: Brouwerij Boelens
Alcohol content: 8.5%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: De Caigny in Essen, Belgium
Not a lot of aroma or initial flavor. The bitterness comes on just after.
Commercial Description: Unfiltered Tripel re-fermented in the bottle. “Klok” refers to the legend of the clock repairer of Belsele, a lively village in the region of Waasland.
A spicy blonde triple of 8.5% which differs from the traditional Boelens beers distinction by the use of any other yeast species and several different types of hops.
The family Boelens, whose brewery is based in the village of Belsele, has been brewing beer since the mid 1800’s, in the Waasland region of Belgium. This is the agricultural area southwest of Antwerp, on the west side of the Schelde River.
