This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Day 32: February 1, 2015
Diary entry:
Super Bowl Sunday! Wasn’t able to find anywhere that was going to be showing the game in Eindhoven tonight, but I did find that the game, which can be bet on by clicking sites such as w88.com, is being shown on one of the channels I am able to get at home.
The original fall-back plan was to go up to Amsterdam to watch the game, but being that Amsterdam is over an hour away and there are no trains running to Boxtel at the time the game is ending, I’ll just watch here.
But first, I received a last minute notification that there was a beer tasting at Van Moll in Eindhoven with Oersoep Brewery from Nijmegen. I haven’t mad many of there beers, so decided to head down into town for a bit before heading home for a quick pre-game nap.
There were six beers on tap at Van Moll from Oersoep, and I actually did enjoy most of them, but for the beer of the day, I had to choose a beer from another brewery that I shared with some friends there at the end of the evening.
The Beer:
Name: Troubadour Magma SE 2014 Tripel Yeast
Style: Belgian Tripel / India Pale Ale
Producer: Brouwerij The Musketeers (De Musketiers)
Alcohol content: 9.0%
Bottle size: 0.75l
Purchased from: Van Moll
Commercial Description:
This ale is a one-time special brew of Troubadour Magma, an amber colored Belgian Tripel India Pale Ale, dry-hopped with American Simcoe hop. In previous special editions, the brewers played with different hops for dry-hopping, while this edition is a world premiere: Troubadour Magma is brewed with 3 different yeast strains, a TRIPEL YEAST Edition! This results in an even more unique flavor! Contains Barley malt, water, hop and yeast.
This was a very enjoyable IPA, with a bit of nice bitterness, and a great fruity flavor in the beer beyond the bitterness.
