Day 256: September 13, 2015
Diary entry:
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
After the week I had, and the way I felt this morning. I was truly looking forward to a long day spent sitting on the couch, relaxing, and preparing for the week ahead.
And then I received the text message asking what time I was going to the local beer festival.
Today!
I thought that was next Sunday!!!
Apparently I was mistaken all along, and the local Biereloth beer festival was today, and not next weekend.
That definitely got in the way of a full day spent doing nothing.
But today was a beautiful day, weather-wise. Not cold or warm. Not raining or too sunny. A fine day for a beer festival.
I couldn’t resist!
So I finished up the work I HAD to do this morning, and started on the work for tomorrow, and then ran off to the festival for a few hours. Which is always a great time!
And the good thing was, four hours later, at a nice, decent hour, I was back at home, able to finish my work for tomorrow, eat some dinner, and relax for the rest of the evening.
This is how weekends should be!
The Beer:
Name: Tweespraeck
Style: Dark Ale
Producer: De Saeck
Alcohol content: 6.5%
Bottle size: 0.2l Draft
Purchased from: Biereloth Beer Fesitval in Boxtel, the Netherlands
Tweespraek by De Saeck. Starts off immediately with a very fruity flavor. Apples are very forward. And then the fruitiness is followed by some bitterness. This was an enjoyable first beer from a new, local, young brewery. And a great way to kick off today’s beer festival. Today was their public debut, so this was the first time any of their beers were available to the general public.
Commercial Description
Not a classic double, but a slight Dark Ale at 6.5% with caramel and candy. Slightly sweet and a true experience coming from the delicious yeast.
Brewery Saeck is born from a friendship forged in an existing beer tasting club. Luuk van Hal and Evert Harmeling decided to take the plunge in 2013 and turn their passion for beer and technique into a genuine computerized brewery. The major part of their brewing process is automated, which should guarantee the quality of their beers with a focus on craft and craftsmanship!
