This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 268: September 25, 2015
Diary entry:
So 4:00 AM wake-up calls on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Friday? Well, why not! 4:00 AM again!
Had another morning flight today back to Weeze from Stansted, after which a drive back to Boxtel.
No work today, but instead the plan was to take another vacation day to head up to Bodegraven for the Borefts Bierfestival by Brouwerij De Molen.
I will admit, I was rather nervous about going, with as little sleep as I’ve had the past few days.
So…I took it easy.
On arrival, I went for what was the best beer I had at the festival, the Agamemnon Bourbon Barrel Aged by Omnipollo. Dark, creamy head. Very smooth. Chocolate coffee and dark fruit flavors. Syrupy. This was a near perfect start to the festival! A hard one to top…which I will admit, no other beer did. I would have made it my beer of the day, but I had to go with the more celebratory beer below instead.
I would up leaving the festival early, at around 6:00 PM instead of closing time at 10:00 PM, just to ensure I was able to stay awake long enough to not miss any train stops.
I made it home by 8:00 PM, and, sleep was not too far behind.
The Beer:
Name: Twenty-Five Grams
Style: Double IPA
Producer: Brouwerij De Molen
Alcohol content: 9.5%
Bottle size: 0.15l Draft
Purchased from: Borefts Bierfestival at Brouwerij De Molen in Bodegraven, the Netherlands
Twenty Five Grams by Brouwerij De Molen. Fruity and hoppy aroma. Citrusy bitterness, but not too astringent. More fruity bitter than the grapefruit white. Quite tasty! And in honor of hitting it at the Borefts Beer Festival, I decided to give a special honor to Brouwerij De Molen; De Molen’s Twenty-Five Grams gets the honor of being my 2500th unique check-in on untappd!
