This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 39: February 8, 2015
Diary entry:
Blissfully slept in this morning. Nothing quite as nice as a decent night’s sleep on the weekend.
A bit more writing catch-up this morning, and some other domestic chores (amazing how fast laundry and dishes can pile up!)
The finally back to beer travel 🙂
The Beer:
Name: Twist & Stout Cognac BA
Style: Russian Imperial Stout
Producer: Brouwerij De Molen
Alcohol content: 12.0%
Bottle size: Draft – 0.15l
Purchased from: Brouwerij De Molen
Went up to Bodegraven today to visit one of the best breweries in the Netherlands, Brouwerij de Molen. Ten beers on tap, eight from De Molen, and two from the UK. The Twist & Stout Cognac Barrel Aged Imperial Russian Stout was far and away the cream of the crop. 12% ABV, but not too too boozy. The cognac barrel left enough vanilla flavor to leave that perfect Tootsie Roll aroma and flavor. With enough dark chocolate to make it close to ideal.
