This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 9: January 9, 2015
Diary entry:
Productive day working offsite in our office in Turnhout, Belgium. Always nice to be able to spend a day in the Belgian office vs. the headquarters in the Netherlands. A lot more laid back, less distractions. Sometimes, this is just the trick to be able to concentrate and get some good work done.
Helped my friend celebrate his birthday in Eindhoven after work. Ribs at De Bengel, extra spicy. Always a treat! Managed to find a few beers I had not tried before after dinner, so all-in-all, a good evening!
The Beer:
Name: Urthel Saisonnière
Style: Blond / Saison
Producer: Microbrouwerij Urthel
Alcohol content: 6.0%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: De Kram, Eindhoven, Netherlands
De Kram has expanded their beer list in recent years, with a “special beer” menu available. Around 30 selections, though mostly from the major Belgian breweries. This Blonde / Saison hybrid was a nice selection, especially after letting it warm up a little in the glass. Not much farmhouse funk, leaning a little more towards the blond than the saison.
