This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 233: August 21, 2015
Diary entry:
Spent the whole day in meetings over the other building again, so never spent a second at my own desk today. Good, informative sessions though, one bringing me up to speed on how some aspects of the project are planned to interact, where I had not yet been much involved, but need to be, and the other me bringing someone else up to speed on the implications of the timing of our planned releases. Always good when more people realize just how important it is for us to look at the bigger picture, and not just the short-term goals.
The last meeting of the afternoon was also very informative, as I learned quite a bit about a software tool that’s integral for the to-be landscape that I had not seen or heard any information about yet. Some good input, and some questions to be answered, with those presenting also made aware of the requirements from my group as well. Again, good for this to be done now, up front, and not at the last minute later on.
Unfortunately, this last meeting ran a little late, so I was late in getting to Van Moll for the beer share with the others. But then, maybe not a bad thing after all, when I saw how much they had already consumed when I arrived. I managed to have a good evening, and and nice night at home after they were out for the count.
My beers today:
Black Ball Ballistics by To Øl – Very nice barrel flavor. Some dark fruit flavor. Very nice Porter.
Cuvee #3 by Brouwerij De Molen – Lots of barrel. Heavy alcohol flavor. Tasty, but I prefer a little smoother.
Wookiee IPA by Amager Bryghus – Nice citrusy bitterness. Excellent.
Charisma by Brouwerij Rodenburg – Decent. Dark, a wee bit sour. But good.
Storm & Bliksem by Brouwerij De Molen – A very fine, underrated Double IPA.
And the beer of the day…
The Beer:
Name: Vanilla Black Velvet (2015)
Style: American IPA
Producer: Cervesa Guineu
Alcohol content: 9.5%
Bottle size: 0.33l
Purchased from: Van Moll in Eindhoven, the Netherlands
Vanilla Black Velvet (2015) by Cervesa Guineu and La Quince from Toroella, near Barcelona, Spain. Russian Imperial Stout with a great vanilla aroma and flavor. Even a little bitter. Thick, almost syrupy. Delicious!
